We MUST remember the sacrifices that were made, and honor our veterans, the military, and those who have fallen...

Mission- to Honor Veterans, the Military, and Those who Have Fallen...

The mission started when Randy got a sabbatical from his employer...
What was originally going to be a motorcycle ride to Talladega to see a race turned into a coast-to-coast mission to honor veterans, the military, and those who have fallen.

Randy was going to ride his motorcycle to Talladega to fulfill a lifelong dream, and a few weeks before leaving, got the feeling that he needed to help folks along the way. He remembered that there were state veteran homes along the route he intended to take, and decided that he'd contact the homes to see if there was anything he could help them.

The end result was 14 wish lists from state veteran homes in 13 different states coast to coast. Randy started REMEMBERaVET.net with the original intent to focus solely on the wish lists. We soon realized that by collaborating with others, we could also honor the military and those who have fallen. Here's a bit about what happened starting just one day after leaving Talladega...

So, bad stuff happens and good stuff follows...isn't that how it works?
Well, you may have heard that Randy blew his engine in South Georgia when he was not quite halfway through his coast-to-coast mission. Ten days, a rental car for 2000 miles, and LOTSA dollars later (personal dollars, not REMEMBERaVET dollars), he got the bike back...had a bit of a scare shortly after picking up the bike- blew an oil line (No, don't blame Pat the tech, he had no way of knowing the hose was gonna blow). The great folks from Earl Small's Harley Davidson in Marietta, Georgia hooked Randy up with a new oil line, and David (also a great tech) had him on his way in no time....but it's what happened in between the breakdown and the restart that was REALLY interesting...

Kevin and Pat (REALLY know their Stuff!) diagnosing Mercy Uh, we got bad news...

Kevin (left) can't help but laugh as Pat (AWESOME tech!) reminds Randy that you can't pose for a photo shoot and fix a motorcycle at the same time...We're grateful that Randy's bike (her name is Mercy) was handled with such great care by the wonderful folks at Tifton Harley Davidson in Tifton, Georgia.

So, your engine's blown, and you find out it's gonna be 10 days to fix. What to do? Ship the bike home and abort the mission? Continue with a rental car? Sit tight and wait it out for 10 days? Randy decided to do what his Uncle Sam taught him to do when the situation deviates from the plan...IMPROVISE! Randy rented a car and continued on to pick up wish lists and visit the veteran homes in Daytona Beach, Florida, Millidgeville, Georgia, Huntsville, Alabama, and Humboldt, Tennessee after stopping to see his good friend Gus from back in their military days at Beale AFB in the 1980's.
Well, Randy was at the beach with Gus , and ran into a true American patriot and perhaps the greatest entertainer in American history- HULK HOGAN!! The Hulkster was awesome, taking time out of his incredibly busy schedule to say a few words..very nice, indeed. Randy presented him with a REMEMBERaVET.net t-shirt, and Hulk says he'll wear it on TV!!! He seems to be a man of his word , so if any of you Hulkamaniacs spot Hulk wearing the REMEMBERaVET.net t-shirt, let us know
...if we're lucky, the Hulk will wear the shirt and give a word to help us help our veterans...keep your fingers crossed!  THANKS HULK!!!
