Here's a look at what we have been able to do in 2009 with your help
We started the year with wish lists from 14
state veteran homes coast-to-coast, setting up booths at various local
festivals, telling folks about our mission to honor veterans, the military, and
those who have fallen.
We started collaborating with other folks
who agreed with our mission, and have been able to help them honor veterans,
the military, and those who have fallen, too. Some examples of both how we
collaborated with others in 2009, and what we have been able to do with the
support of folks like you include:
· Sponsoring a fundraiser/dinner and dance with the focus being help raise funds to cover the Sacramento Valley Veterans’ Cemetery with a wreath on every headstone during the Christmas holidays. Susie and Curtis Stocking and their family, friends, and supporters worked tirelessly to raise funds all year, not only for one night… the result of their efforts and our working together is that the place of honor was fully covered for the fourth consecutive year- I believe that this cemetery is the only one in the nation to have been recognized for this honorable achievement- it WOULD NOT have happened without the dedication of the Stockings. Thankfully, it did- mission accomplished, and we are looking forward to working with them to honor even more of our fallen next year!
· Procuring items from the wish lists that we received from state veteran homes
across the country- we have had a raffle, set up booths at local festivals,
motorcycle runs, concerts, and the like, and have raised enough to procure many
items from the wish lists, though we still have LOTS that we need to do to be
certain that EVERY wish list for EVERY state veteran home who supplies us with
one is fulfilled. Some items we have been able to procure for state veteran
homes across the country include a Nintendo Wii with the Wii fit system, DVD
players, outdoor furniture, canopies, linen supplies, tea ware, and other items
that the homes asked for, as well. We sent 30+ state veteran home residents of
the fine facility in
